Killers ‘Again’ Spread Poison In Florina
Florina is a town and municipality in mountainous northwestern Macedonia, Greece.
The Municipals motto is ‘Where Greece begins’ and for the stray animals of Florina it will certainly be ‘Where Life Ends’ at the hands of Greek killers.
Yesterday evening, Saturday 30th August 2014, multiple poison reports where being released of animals having eaten poisoned meat baits spread across Florina, in the village square, park and residential areas.
Raw poisoned minced meat was discovered at several points around the square Archelaou in Florina and it was confirmed today that five stray dogs and a cat had died.

Eyewitness Mr. Pantelis Kyrkos issued a warning as animals where being found dead,
”There where strange people with hoods and bowed heads, feeding the dogs something in the village square. They wait for the dogs to eat and then leave”
A complaint was made to Police in Florina and the bodies of the animals were transferred to the Florina Municipal Veterinary Clinic for autopsy which showed the the cause of death as poisoning and the the poison baits have now been sent to a laboratory to identify the type of poison.
In a statement by the Mayor of Florina, John Voskopoulos, he said,
“We condemn this inhuman act of the people who threw poison and once again were tragically killed dozens of strays in our city.
The Municipality of Florina will move competently and make all the necessary steps in order to find those responsible for this abominable crime so you do not ever see again the hideous spectacle dead stray in the city of Florina.
We should all understand that the strays are part of our society and we must learn to live together with them.
The Municipality will make all necessary efforts to find the culprits and ordered about her abhorrent act.”
The poisoning of animals in Greece has continued for decades and is Greeks primary method of reducing the stray population, estimated in 2014 to be around 2-3 million stray dogs and cats (combined).
An estimated 20-30,000 animals are poisoned each year in Greece where it is illegal to poison an animal under Animal Welfare law (4039/12) yet our records reveal that only ONE offender has been arrested, charged and convicted of poisoning animals since Animal Welfare Law 4039/12 was introduced in 2012.
On Saturday 29th June 2013, an 82 year old male (Greek National) spread poison bait (rat poison) in Piraeus and killed cats and kittens. The offender was sentenced to one year in prison (SUSPENDED) and 5,000 euro fine.
Article 16 Abuse of animals
A. Subject to special cases specifically provided by existing EU and national legislation and the provision of third sentence of paragraph 4 of Article 9 prohibits torture, abuse, poor and brutal treatment any animal species, and any act violence against him, especially as the poisoning, hanging, drowning, burning, crushing and amputation. The neutering of the animal and any veterinary practice for therapeutic purposes is not considered amputation.

On Tuesday 12th August 2014, multiple poison reports where being released over a 20 hour period in Florina.

Time 00: 37 , 1st 2nd elementary, two dogs to die with symptoms of poisoning. One was saved, the other died.
Time 01: 15, Street Olympiados, a dog already dead with signs of poisoning.
Time 04: 15, New Park, a dead dog with signs of poisoning.
Time 07: 00, Street Arrianoy, a dead dog with signs of poisoning.
Time 12: 00, Kastrisianaki Street, a dog with signs of poisoning was saved
Time 20: 00 Street Arrianoy, a dog with signs of poisoning was saved.
A local group in the area said of the poisonings,
”With indignation, sadness and anger we have lately seen a mass dog extermination effort in our region.
Criminals throwing poison almost in all areas of the city of Florina, where children play in the Park and indeed even beside school courtyards.
Must sound the alarm to all those responsible (Police, municipality) that this situation will lead to tragic results as the powerful poisons thrown by the unscrupulous fall in public places (like parks) frequented by children.
For the good not only of dogs and humans and of our culture and reputation of this area, you need to identify the perpetrators and to surrender to justice to face severe penalties. This issue concerns us all, not just people who have dogs”
Sources informed Greece Exposed that many more stray dogs where poisoned and many strays in the area have simply disappeared.
We also understand that the municipal of Florina acted quickly to remove the corpses of many of the poisoned animals without the animals having undergone autopsy to determine cause of death, thus preventing any investigation by Police as poisoning animals in Greece is an offence under animal welfare law 4039/12, the municipal have denied any knowledge of animals being poisoned or removing corpses.
The Municipal of Florina hit the headlines in October 2013 when we reported on the plight of the sick and starving stray dogs in the shelter run by the Municipal of Florina Greece.
Eye witness reports had stated the stray dogs had been left with no food or water for days and no vet to treat the many sick dogs which included a dog lay motionless on the ground and was reported that another starving dog was attempting to eat it in the video evidence released.

These crazed monsters need to be caught asap and put in prison. They can easily do this to humans if they are comfortable doing this to thousand of pets or stays, especially, if they get away with it. This is scary and unsafe for animals and humans.
These monsters have absolutely NO right to continue to live. What they do to animals they surely do also to humans. They are a sick demented retarded race and have to be executed
